Carve a plate and beaker

11 March 2018, 09:30 - 16:00 (Add to calendar)

Create your own beautiful plate and beaker using hand tools and English hardwood. With Chris Perkins, local craftsman and green wood worker.

Bradfield Woods open air workshop offers protection from the rain and a fireplace for making a brew! All wood, tools and expertise will be supplied on the day.

Enjoy learning the process of  carving from selecting suitable material to putting the finishing touches to your own unique items to use, display and cherish! Develop skills with the bowl gouges, hook knives, side axe and spokeshaves. Leave with your own hand crafted plate and beaker, and the knowledge and enthusiasm to make many more.

Rural crafts and traditional techniques form the backbone of Chris's work as a green wood carver, toolmaker and experienced teacher of traditional crafts. Chris has considerable experience of carving, demonstrating and selling his work at events and enjoys passing his skills and enthusiasm to others.

Please wear suitable clothing and stout footwear.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided and are included in the price, but please bring a packed lunch.

There will be a small charge of £10 per person on the day towards materials.
