Adult course (DK) - Weave a willow hare at Redgrave & Lopham Fen

06 October 2018, 10:00 - 16:00 (Add to calendar)

Weave an elegant sitting hare from English willow, for inside or outside use - with Jo Hammond, local professional basketmaker.

Using simple weaving techniques, you will discover how to create a framework, how to cover and shape the frame with freeweave and how to build the head, legs and ears to finish your piece. Jo will also guide you in selecting the willow, finishing and trimming your work.

All the materials you need are provided, although if you wish to use your own secateurs, please feel free to bring them along.

PLEASE NOTE - Willow weaving is moderately hard work and does require a firm grip, and the flexibility to bend over and squat down occasionally.

The course is suitable for beginners or those with some experience. Numbers are limited to juts 12 for this course to ensure that plenty of hands-on help is available.

Price includes all tools and materials required, plus tea, coffee and biscuits.

Please bring:

Secateurs if you wish to use your own
A packed lunch
Pad and pen
Camera if you wish
